Apply to Dental Hygiene

To join this program, you must apply for admission. This highly competitive program accepts 20 students every fall term. Applicants are selected through a point-based system over a three-phase evaluation process. Competitive applicants typically have a 3.88 GPA, have shadowed a practicing dental hygienist, and have some work experience in a dental setting.

Program selection criteria and dates change yearly (usually updated every September). Applicants are responsible for checking this page for updates.

Important: This is an extremely competitive program with over 190 applicants each year and only 20 applicants admitted. Meeting the application requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.

How to apply

1. Apply to ������������

   Applying to ������������ is free and only takes a few minutes. Complete this step as soon as possible so you can start using ������������ resources. The deadline to apply to ������������ for the Dental Hygiene 2027 admission period is March 17, 2027.

   • If you haven’t taken a credit course at ������������ in the last year, you must update your application by going to pcc.edu/enroll or to confirm your status as a credit-seeking student by emailing enroll@pcc.edu.

2. Application timeline

   Take prerequisites

   All prerequisites must be completed by March 21, 2027, the end of ������������’s winter term prior to the application deadline, and passed with a grade of “C” or higher. Pass/no pass grades are not accepted. Learn more about Dental Hygiene program prerequisites.

3. Build application to earn points

   The application process has three phases. The first phase is based on a 96-point scale. See details about the point system on the application points page.

4. Submit transcripts

   ������������ requires applicants to submit official transcripts from all colleges attended, including ������������, directly to ADEA DHCAS. Do not wait until you have submitted your ADEA DHCAS application to send your transcripts to ADEA DHCAS. See more about submitting required transcripts.

5. Phase I: Apply to the Dental Hygiene program

   by the April 16, 2027, 8:59pm (PST) deadline. The non-refundable application fee is $50 (ADEA DHCAS has a ). Application deadline appeal requests will not be considered.

6. Phase II: Orientation, HSRT-AD, and panel interview

   Approximately 40 of the top-scoring applicants will be invited to participate in Phase II. Applicants will be notified of their invitation to Phase II via the email account associated with their ADEA DHCAS account. It is the applicant’s responsibility to regularly check their email for admissions updates and notifications. Appeals for missing an action or response deadline will not be considered.

   Phase II applicants must complete the following activities:

   • Mandatory Zoom orientation: Phase II applicants must attend a mandatory Zoom orientation on May 18, 2027, from 6-7pm. Details on the HSRT-AD and panel interviews will be provided during the orientation.
   • HSRT-AD: Applicants will complete the HSRT-AD in-person at the Vanport Building on May 21, 2027. Please clear your schedule for the entire day.
   • Panel interview: Applicants will complete the panel interview in-person at the Vanport Building on May 28, 2027. Please clear your schedule for the entire day.

7. Phase III: Seat offers and post-selection requirements

   Applicants who advance to Phase III have received a seat offer. They are considered admitted to the program pending acceptance of the seat offer and successful completion of Phase III requirements prior to the start of fall 2027:

   • Attend the mandatory orientations on June 10, September 9, and September 10, 2027. Please clear your schedule for each day.
   • Pass a criminal background check from an agency designated by ������������.
   • Pass a ten-panel drug screen from a lab designated by ������������.
   • Submit proof of current immunizations.
   • Submit proof of current CPR for Healthcare Providers certification (American Heart Association).

   Please review the requirements for clinical and field education for more details. Students will receive specific directions from ������������’s Dental Hygiene program on how to meet these requirements. Applicants should not pursue meeting these requirements prior to being admitted to the Dental Hygiene program.

Admission timeline: Fall 2027

• November 1, 2026: Start building your
  • Each September, the ADEA DHCAS application becomes available. Be sure to select the correct fall term you intend to start. You can then complete your personal information, enter your academic history, and review ADEA DHCAS requirements. You won’t be able to designate ������������ as your program of choice until January 2. After this date, you can view and start uploading your ������������-specific requirements.
  • All admissions information will be sent through the email address used to create your ADEA DHCAS account. Applicants are responsible for checking their email daily throughout the entire admissions process.
• January 2, 2027: ������������’s ADEA DHCAS application opens
  • Applicants are able to designate ������������ as their program of choice in ADEA DHCAS, as well as view and start uploading their ������������-specific requirements and application materials.
• March 17, 2027: ������������ general admissions deadline
  • Applicants must be admitted to ������������ as an active credit-seeking student before applying to the Dental Hygiene program.
• March 21, 2027: End of ������������’s winter term
  • All prerequisites, degrees, job shadowing, ������������ Dental Clinic shadowing, and dental setting experience must be completed by this date.
  • Winter term official transcripts should be sent directly to ADEA DHCAS around March 29 (after winter term final grades are reflected on official transcripts).
• April 16, 2027, 8:59pm (PST): Dental Hygiene application deadline
  • Applicants are responsible for ensuring ADEA DHCAS has all updated transcripts and supporting documents. Appeals for missing the deadline will not be considered.
  • It is your responsibility to monitor your transcripts and .
  • Once you have applied, you will not be able to go in and adjust your uploads or add additional documentation. For a short amount of time, you are still able to send official transcripts, and they will be matched to your application.
• May 14, 2027: Phase II notifications
  • Approximately 40 of the top-scoring applicants will be invited to participate in Phase II. Applicants will be notified of their invitation to Phase II via the email account associated with their ADEA DHCAS account.
  • Applicants must RSVP for Phase II in order to secure their spot.
• May 18, 2027, from 6-7pm (PST): Mandatory Phase II Zoom orientation
  • Phase II applicants will be invited to a mandatory Phase II Zoom orientation detailing the HSRT-AD and panel interview process.
• May 21, 2027: In-person HSRT-AD 
  • Phase II applicants will be invited to the Vanport Building to take the HSRT-AD. Please hold the entire day.
• May 28, 2027: In-person panel interview
  • Phase II applicants will be invited to the Vanport Building for a panel interview. Please hold the entire day.
• Early June: Program acceptance notification
  • The 20 top-scoring applicants will be notified of their seat offer. Applicants are informed of their admission status via the email account associated with their ADEA DHCAS account.
  • Admitted students must meet the Phase III requirements prior to starting the program in the fall.
  • All students who are offered a seat or an alternate seat will be required to accept their offer.
  • After acceptance of the seat offer, all program communication will go through your ������������ email.
• June 10, 2027: First mandatory in-person orientation
  • Admitted and alternate students attend the first mandatory orientation at the Vanport Building. Details regarding Phase III requirements will be addressed during this orientation. Please hold the entire day.
• September 9 and 10, 2027: Second mandatory in-person orientations
  • Admitted and alternate students attend the second mandatory in-person orientation. Please hold the entire day.
• September 21, 2027: Fall term and program begin
  • The Dental Hygiene program is delivered across two academic years.
