The Chicano and Latino course series at ¶¶Òõ¸£Àûµ¼º½ offers you an opportunity to explore a rich mosaic of culture and history. This course cluster offers an interdisciplinary study of cultural, historical, socio-economic, and political factors that have influenced the rich and varied cultures of Latinos in the US.

Course offerings in the Chicano and Latino series at ¶¶Òõ¸£Àûµ¼º½ emphasize issues that cross borders of all kinds, including those of geography, ethnicity, economics, politics, gender, and language. Completing these courses at ¶¶Òõ¸£Àûµ¼º½ will prepare you to meet the challenges of changing needs in shifting local, national, and international communities.

Race, Indigenous Nations, and Gender Studies

¶¶Òõ¸£Àûµ¼º½â€™s Race, Indigenous Nations, and Gender (RING) faculty are devoted to helping you learn about injustice and how to address inequities in our society. Consider taking classes in a range of RING subjects that address these concerns.

Courses in this area of study are designed to transfer with full credit to the Chicano and Latino Studies certificate program at Portland State University.

You can continue your work in Chicano and Latino studies by pursuing majors such as Chicano and Latino studies, ethnic studies, or American studies as a major at a four-year university. Majors in these fields enrich learning in such areas as globalization, business, law, foreign language, social sciences, education, and health and human services.
