  • This course focuses on strategies, observation, and assessment of children, their development, and your interactions with them.
  • We use developmental assessment tools and the CLASS materials (required textbooks) in our weekly CLASS Journal Reflections.
  • We have 1 Topic Presentation that you will research using 1 of 2 scholarly websites from our field to then present to your colleagues.
  • Lastly, you will be observed by your instructor with the CLASS Observation Tool at your Practicum site. Your instructor will then create a goal that you will work toward and reflect upon at the end of the term in your CLASS Results Narrative Self-Evaluation.

I think you will learn that these are high-quality teaching strategies that are effective with all types of learners. Across the 10 weeks of the term, you will be able to observe, assess, and reflect upon the theories and practices you are implementing in our field.

Here are the books you will need to purchase:

  • American Psychological Association (2020). Concise Guide to APA Style (7th). Red Shelf.
  • Teachstone (2018). CLASS Dictionary/CLASS Strategy Card B-5 Bundle (V1.3). Teachstone Training LLC.
