Details about this class

This is the lab portion of EET 242 Embedded Systems.

The labs begin with Arduino programming and basic circuit construction in Tinkercad, including blinking LEDs and reading pushbuttons. Students then compare blocking delays, nonblocking timing, and hardware interrupts to understand how a program responds to events. They practice functions and direct register access while building a temperature/humidity monitor with a sensor, LCD, and temperature-threshold indicator.

The later labs build measurement and control applications. Students use analog inputs and resistor dividers to construct a voltage/resistance meter with a continuity buzzer, then explore hardware timers, sleep modes, and an LCD frequency counter. The final lab uses Serial Monitor commands to control LED brightness and blinking and to operate a simple calculator, emphasizing command parsing, calculations, and error handling.

Lab manuals will be provided and distributed before each lab session, and lab reports are due from the students before the beginning of the session following the assigning session.

Technology

Students need to purchase one (1) Arduino Uno R3 with ATmega328P chip, matching the supplied AVR code. Official board (https://store-usa.arduino.cc/products/arduino-uno-rev3).

Can be the same one as used before in EET 101A.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.

Students with disabilities

Students with disabilities should notify their instructor if accommodations are needed to take this class. For information about technologies that help people with disabilities taking Online based classes please visit the Disability Services website.
