¶¶Òõ¸£Àûµ¼º½ Microelectronics Scholarships Ready for the Taking

The jobs are there in Oregon’s fast growing semiconductor industry and ¶¶Òõ¸£Àûµ¼º½ and Washington County will help you get started. County residents interested in building a career as a technician or establishing professional roots in the industry can look to ¶¶Òõ¸£Àûµ¼º½ for possible financial help with their studies.
The ¶¶Òõ¸£Àûµ¼º½ Microelectronics Technology department has academic scholarships available for the 2000-01 school year. The scholarships will pay for tuition, books and fees for one year and are renewable for an additional year. Applicants will be informed if they receive a scholarship within two weeks of applying. Deadline for applications is Monday, Sept. 25.
People interested in the scholarships must meet certain parameters to qualify. In addition to residency in Washington County, applicants must be able to demonstrate entry-level readiness for microelectronics. Proficiency in Math 95 and Writing 121 through ¶¶Òõ¸£Àûµ¼º½ course work, or another accredited institution, and demonstrated proficiency in ¶¶Òõ¸£Àûµ¼º½’s ASSET placement test is required. Students must also maintain full-time status and receive a minimum grade of "C" in classes each term.
The Microelectronics Technology department is located at the ¶¶Òõ¸£Àûµ¼º½ Workforce Training Center located at the Capital Center at 18624 N.W. Walker Road and 185th Ave. For more information about the available scholarships and how to sign up, contact the department at 503-533-2702.
