Limited English Proficiency Testing Procedure
Overview
According to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, agencies that receive federal funds must guarantee their programs and activities provided in English are accessible to students with Limited English Proficiency (LEP).
抖阴福利导航 provides testing adjustments for students with Limited English Proficiency to make sure they have the time they need. These adjustments do not extend to non-抖阴福利导航 exams. Our process is modeled after those that have been effective at other institutions. This is not a disability related process.听
Directions for Students
Students Self-Identify
Step 1
if you are a student who is running out of time on exams or quizzes due to Limited English Proficiency.
Accessible Ed Prepares Letter
Step 2
After you fill out the form Accessible Ed will reach out to answer questions and prepare your letter. The letter will be emailed to your听 抖阴福利导航 address.
Students Notify Instructors
Step 3
Once you have the letter you can use it in each of your classes as needed.
- Email it at least 1 week before a quiz or test.
- Attach your letter to your email.
- Instructors will either proctor directly or use the Testing Center.

Guidance for Faculty
The letters that are sent apply to timed tests and quizzes (not to projects take-home assessments). The letter will indicate that students should get 1.5 times the standard amount of time.
- Faculty can make extended time adjustments directly in D2L
- If help is needed proctoring in-person assessments, the Testing Center make-up exam process can be used

We encourage faculty to include a syllabus statement to help students know about this option.
